Images of CH and its People

Back

“CH has a detailed and evocative visual record of its history and of those closely associated with it. It has a notable collection of oil portraits of its Benefactors and Presidents from the 16th century, its Treasurers from the 17th century, its Head Masters from the 19th century, and its 20th century Head Mistresses at the Hertford School.  There were over 500 engravings published, from the 17th to the 20th century, and over 1,000 postcards produced in the 20th century.  CH has also featured prominently in cartoons of the day, from the golden age of cartoons at the end of the 18th century.  The collections of Engravings, Postcards and Cartoons are each featured in booklets in the Heritage Series of publications”.
